KopiO Affogato

Affogato is a test of restraint. There’s nowhere for flavour to hide — which is exactly why KopiO® belongs here. Instead of adding sweetness, it reinforces the coffee’s bitterness and extends the finish.

This is an affogato built on structure, not dessert syrup.

KopiO adds roasted depth and control, keeping the contrast between hot espresso and cold ice cream intact. The result is cleaner, darker, and more deliberate.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

Base

  • 2 scoops high-quality vanilla ice cream (or fior di latte)

  • 60 ml freshly brewed espresso, hot

Finish

  • 30–40 ml KopiO® Coffee Liqueur

  • Optional: shaved dark chocolate or crushed cocoa nibs

Method

1. Chill the Glass

Place serving glasses in the freezer for 5–10 minutes.
Affogato dies quickly in warm glassware.

2. Build the Base

Add one scoop of ice cream to each chilled glass.
Keep it tight — this is not a sundae.

3. Pour the Espresso

Pour hot espresso directly over the ice cream.
Move quickly. Contrast matters.

4. Add KopiO

Finish with KopiO®, poured slowly over the espresso.
Do not stir.

5. Finish

Add dark chocolate or cocoa nibs if using.
Serve immediately.

Serving Notes

  • Serve immediately — no holding

  • Use espresso with real bitterness

  • Skip extra sugar entirely
